Introduction: This study evaluated the application of infection prevention and control (ICP) measures by midwives in the delivery rooms and maternity suites at the five district hospitals in the Region of Hauts Bassins, Burkina Faso. Methods: This was a cross-sectional study conducted from 02 August 2015 to 12 June 2016. The data collected were: socio-professional characteristics, knowledge of ICP, attitudes towards handwashing, ICP practices, and service organization. Results: Of the 65 agents surveyed, 60.0% were untrained about ICP after basic training, and 78.5% with no supervision for at least four years. The scores were : knowledge (64.7%), attitude (68.1%), domains of practice (<85%). None of the maternity hospitals had the four bins for instrument processing. The organization of services was insufficient. Conclusion: The infection prevention and control is insufficiently implemented, requiring capacity building and reorganization of services in a spirit of quality assurance.

With growth and exponential globe trotter traveling of the human population, and many more conducive factors, the likelihood of merging and melting viruses capable of infecting humans in a cooperative fashion, has increased markedly. Hence, viruses that were limited to a particular region of the planet, or to certain population groups, have become capable of infecting humans on a pandemic scale. Some viruses not only can infect pregnant women, but also expand to the amniotic fluid and fetus. With this review, we will reflect upon some examples of known viral cooperations, as well as new ones that have the potential for compromising human health and survival of the fetus in utero.

Introduction The satisfaction of users of the health facilities is common used in order to appreciate quality of care. The objective of the present research was to study satisfaction of women inpatients from the care units of the Department of Gynecology, Obstetrics and Reproductive Medicine of the National teaching hospital Souro Sanou, in Bobo Dioulasso, Burkina Faso. Methods A cross-sectional analytical study conducted in 8 months. The areas of satisfaction were calculated according to the SAPHORA model (version 7). Results Two hundred (200) clients were eligible and were all interviewed, with the participation rate of 100.0%. The mean age of clients was 28.4 (95% CI: 27.3-29.5) years-old with extremes ranged from 15 to 56 years-old. The low score domains of satisfaction were: reception, catering and staff organization. The scores per domain of satisfaction and per service and the overall satisfaction score were less than 50%. The differences between the services were related to: Hospitality score and Organization of the outing score. There were a difference between the services and the following variables: hospitality domain of satisfaction, the organization of the outing domain of satisfaction, and the cost of care. Conclusion The improvement of the satisfaction of women inpatients requires the respect of the patients basic needs and a reorganization of health services with committed staff in order to provide quality health care and services.
